  1. Few figures in American music loom as large as Aaron Copland. As one of the first wave of literary and musical expatriates in Paris during the s, Copland returned to the United States with the means to assume, for the next half century, a central role in American music .
  2. Originally published in , this volume is dated but does contain a thorough biography, chronology, and catalog for many important song composers, including Charles Ives, John Alden Carpenter, Marion Bauer, William Grant Still, Virgil Thomson, Aaron Copland, Lousie Talma, Samuel Barber, William Schuman, and Leonard Bernstein.

  4. I really enjoyed the music. This is unmistakable red, white, and blue, apple pie American music (at least as reflected in the plains of Anglo-Saxon middle America in the 's) right down to the very creative use of the banjo and guitar. There is lot's of Aaron Copland here.
  5. This is an absolutely stunning recording of some really beautiful choral music. With voices pure and ethereal, the singers in this small chorus perform the works of Copland and Barber with an expressive quality that brings these already compelling compositions to even greater life.5/5(3).
